"TBYB" - Try Before You Buy

So, how does a builder who makes 20-40 basses a year get one of his basses to you ? Consider that about half of those are sold in the builder's little part of the world. Consider that most of these builders are located thousands of miles away from you. You could pay the builder upfront, purchase a bass sight unseen, and hope you like it when it is shipped to you. Not very appealing ? The builders of LuthiersAccessGroup have a better idea - LAG's TBYB Program.

Here's how it works :
After you decide which builder looks to be the best fit for you, let's see what we have in stock by that builder. It might not be exactly what you want, but you WILL see and appreciate the builder's skills. You pay our regular price for the bass and we will ship it to you for your inspection. You are under no obligation to buy this bass. Try the bass at your home, rehearsal, studio or gig. Try it where it really counts for you. If there is a bass you are considering at a local store, they might be cool about you bringing in our bass for comparison purposes. We want you to really check out the bass and get to know the builder thru his craft.

After you have thoroughly inspected the bass , you can choose to :
1 ) Keep that bass ( if it is an "available" bass )
2 ) Return the bass and order a bass from that builder , made to your specs.
3 ) Return the bass for a full refund ( minus shipping ).
4 ) Return the bass and try another bass.
Of course, we ask that if you return the bass , it be in "as shipped" condition.

I and the builders of LAG encourage you, the players, to give serious thought to what you want and need in a bass. Look at all the right elements in the various basses you have played and put all of these elements into one bass, a bass built to fit you perfectly. Please keep in mind that while our builders make basses with "standard" measurements, you are always able to specify what YOU need.

The Buy/Sell Plan

Players - are you interested in having your dream bass made, but you first must sell your old bass/basses? LAG can help.

1 ) Send a good clear photo of your bass, with an ACCURATE description of its' condition. This is imperative, because the buyer must be satisfied for this to work for everyone. We will scan the photo and post it and the description for $25. (This $25 is refunded upon the sale of your bass).

2 ) When a player sees your bass and wants to check it out, that player will send your asking price to LAG for safe keeping. When the money is secured, we will ask you to send the bass to the player for a 72 hour inspection period. The player will then decide to keep the bass or, if not satisfied, return it to you. IF the bass is returned to you, you must inform us that you have received the bass ( in like condition ) so the $ can be sent back to the player. Of course, we hope that does not happen! This is why your photo must be clear and your description must be accurate. LAG guarantees the purchasers' satisfaction.

3 ) Congratulations! Your bass has been sold. Assuming you intend to order a bass from one of our builders, LAG will apply the whole amount of your proceeds to your order - we will take no commission. IF your intent was not to order a bass, LAG will receive a 15% commission and send the balance to you. It may be that you want to, for the first time, play a bass from one of our builders - if the proceeds from your sale are sufficient, we can ship a bass to you for your inspection . If your sale $ is short of the cost of our sample bass, simply send along the balance to make this happen. Of course, if your sale proceeds exceed the cost of our sample bass, you will receive the difference.

Bottom line, this CAN work for everyone, and everyone CAN gain from the process. This is a safe way for players to buy used gear, sell used gear, and order custom basses.
